It's that time of the week again, readers! My weekly obsession with So You Think You Can Dance continues, and I will forge ahead in my mission to get you hooked before the season premiere too...at least until I get distracted by something shiny.
Last week was a passionate exposit on the wonder that is SYTYCD. I'll preface this week's video by saying that my sister and I got hooked on SYTYCD during the very first season. We grew up dancing, so it was love at first sight for us. Two summers ago, we spent a Wednesday night in San Antonio, huddled on the bed in my grandparent's guest room as we watched our favorite summer show. Our cousin Blair, a big hulking nerdy (by his own account) jock, kept interrupting our precious viewing time by making fun of us for being fanatic fans of a dance show. Until these two dancers appeared on stage. Blair's mouth dropped open in awe, and he has a newfound respect for our fanatacism. Now we joke (or do we?) about the two of us auditioning with our own latin routine. We can totally rock the "spinning leg of death," as Blair calls it
This is just a fun piece with some neat tricks! If you aren't a fan of contemporary, then you may appreciate the light-heartedness of this Mambo!
Wasn't that cool?? (FYI, Heidi, the female dancer, was the "flower girl" in last week's contemporary piece. The male dancer, Benji, is her cousin. Benji's sister, Lacey, is a past SYTYCD contestant, and a current professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars...talk about Six Degrees of Separation, huh?!)
