Decorating Dilemmas Party...Round 2!

Who's ready to par-tay?! Time to link up with your Decorating Dilemmas!

New here? Let me explain how this works....

Your post can be anything from asking readers to vote on chocolate brown or green napkins for your Fall tablescape to something like "My grandmother gave me these awful floral ceramic candle holders and I don't know how to make them work in my home. What can I do?!"

Decorating, crafty stuff, organization, outdoor living, your garden, I don't care. Just have some fun with it. If you have a solution to a dilemma you've faced, go right ahead and link that up!

This is all about bloggers encouraging and helping each other out. Basically, if you have something in or around your home that you'd like some feedback on, link it up here. Take a quick tour of your home. I bet you have something laying around that you haven't worked on because you just weren't quite sure what you wanted to do with it.

We love to share our successes with each other. We should be able to share the areas we need a little help with. I know I have a plethora several things in my home I'd love some input on.

Starting with this:

I really like this Southern Living at Home farmhouse basket. All year Spring long, it sits with this static arrangement. I am booooooooored!

I'd love some ideas on ways I can dress this basket up for Fall (and even Christmas!).

Pretty details, huh?

Remember, there is a Giveaway contest for participants! I'll leave the party open until 12 am (ET) on Thursday morning. I'll announce the winner on Friday.

You could win this:

It has been torture. torture! for me to not open this magazine and peruse the brightly colored pages. I am saving it just for one lucky winner. Yes, you could go out and buy it yourself, but I am betting you'd rather shave your head than venture into a bookstore (or Wal-Mart!) by yourself with children. Or maybe you're tired from working all day and just plain don't feel like going out. This way is much nicer. I'll just mail it to you.

Here are a few rules:

1. When you enter your link, please enter the permalink to your post, not your blog's homepage. (You can do this by opening your blog, clicking on the title of the post that you want to link to, and then highlighting it to copy and paste here in McLinky. If readers can't find the correct post on your blog, then you won't receive any feedback.)

2. Please give us a brief description of your post after your blog name. For example, mine would read: Amanda @ Serenity Now (Boring Basket)

3. *Please leave me a comment with a link to your post.* This way, if McLinky hates me, dumps me, and ignores me, we can still all visit each other through the comments!

4. It would be great if you'd include a little link to this post when you join the party. That way your readers can join in the fun if they want to. Please double check to be sure that your links work after you sign up.

5. It won't be a party if we don't mingle! Try to visit some of the other blogs, and remember to play nice. I had a nasty comment once, and I know firsthand that it's no fun. Please be considerate of everyone's feelings, even if you do think that Jane Doe's camouflage dining room wallpaper is really weird.

The beauty of Decorating Dilemmas is that it requires no real preparation on your part (except for the whole posting thing). Come as you are and don't worry about completing your project. Let's be real! We love to share our successes, so why should we balk at admitting we might have an area (or twelve!) that we need some help with!

Have fun, everyone!

Love the SLAH basket. I'm not great at floral arrangements, but you could always fill it with something other than flowers, like line it with a pretty napkin and fill it with breadsticks, or skip the napking and fill it with lemons, or during the holidays fill it with fresh cranberries and stick some peppermint sticks in the top? Or some sprigs of holly and greenery? Or maybe even a candle if it was set down low enough so as not to burn the handle?

  2. Hi Amanda,
Yeah I made it this time to join in your party.
I love your little basket, it looks a lot like those old fashioned French egg baskets. I have seen them used in all kinds of ways. In the kitchen with eggs, of course or with other veggies, (I use mine for oignons). In a vignette with a group of candles in them. I am sure I could come up with more decorating ideas, and maybe some pictures. I have to think about it a bit more. I'll get back to you.

I have that exact basket!! Mine is lined with moss right now and holds a bird's nest. What I did last fall and what I'll probably do this fall is fill it with gourds. I'll try to find a picture to post for you.

  5. Hi Amanda! Here's my link: http://this-istheyear.blogspot.com/2009/09/its-decorating-dilemma-time-again.html

I love your basket! So for fall...did you see all that stuff I got at the Dollar Tree? I just made a gorgeous wreath with it...you could use the same stuff for an arrangement in fall colors in the basket...they were gorgeous fall colored daisies and mum-looking thingies. I would also stick some pine cones and miny gourds in there too!

For Christmas, I would keep the white flowers then stick those glittery branch thingies and some holly berries in with them, so they are kind of "shooting" out...you know what I mean?

  6. I fixed my link. Thanks for telling me that it was incorrect!

  7. You've gotten some great ideas! Dollar Tree does have a lot of things that could be combined to make the basket fit the seasons.

Since I'm hopeless when it comes to decorating, I'd probably just tie a wide ribbon around the handle or the narrow part of the basket. (Then I'd leave the Christmas ribbon there all year, but that's just me. I'm sitting next to a basket that, for three years, has been adorned with red velvet bows and jingle bells.)

  8. The perfect place I can hopefully get some advice/input on my kitchen back splash.

Gorgeous basket, after maybe adding some cranberry color hydrangeas I'd maybe weave a thick rust colored ribbon around them middle for fall and maybe gold for winter.

    Thanks a ton!

  9. hi amanda - thanks for hosting this great party. i'd empty your basket & fill it with mini gourds ....or...you could get the branch balls that they have at the dollar tree (5/$1) & paint them fall colors & then at Christmas paint them silver or whatever. it's a fabulous basket!

  14. Oh, gosh. I forgot to comment and leave my link when I posted! And I went to the city to run errands and just got back. Amanda, I can't thank you enough for the wonderful suggestion you gave for my window seat! Woo! Love it! You know, dh and I dearly want to remodel our home. Top to bottom, every nook and cranny. We're talking extensive, which means lots of buxx. So, it'll be a while before we start! ;-) BUT, when we do I'm going to look into your idea of making shelves underneath the seat. Too cool! Thanks for hosting the party!

    Thanks for hosting!
I really like your basket - at Christmas I see it filled with shiny red Christmas balls (the really cheap ones), or sleigh bells. Maybe stick a few twigs out of the top for some height. At Easter it would look really sweet lined with green moss and a few colored eggs sitting on top.

As for your basket, I love the idea of putting the gourds or red hydrangeas in it with a pretty fall colored ribbon. Makes me wish I had one of my own to do that stuff with. :)

  18. I love that basket!!! Gorgeous! I think fall leaves for Fall, and then poinsettias for Christmas time. Or you could just send the basket to me!:-)

I didn't make it to your party to link up this time, but hopefully next! I love this idea!

  19. Amanda,
Thanks for coming by and your input about he store front.

I had thought the same thing last night as i was posting the pics.

It needs to be in groupings, and some color.

There was color, but the heat killed all the flowers. =0(

I will work on doing some groupings though.

I have these great red boxes in the garage, and they would be perfect.
Unfortunately, they are buried about 6 tables (waiting to be painted) deep.

    Blessings
    Barbara jean

PS I was so thrilled when the lady came in yesterday and said my store was "dynamic"!!
Better fix up the front so it will look "dynamic" too. =0))

    Thanks for the party!!

  20. Pumpkins/squash would look great for fall all stacked up in there.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
