Thrifty Thursday: It's Chic to Be Cheap {26}

It's Day #12 of 27 Days of Thankful. Click the link to find out what's going on here every day in November until Thanksgiving Day.

A week or two ago, Michaela Byrd and I strolled through the aisles of my own personal Mecca Target while Natalie was at preschool. We were able to stroll because I had only one child with me and therefore did not have to pry children off of each other or answer repeated questions about why the "Target people" do not live at the store.

As much as I tried to resist, the commercial glow of the Christmas section lured me in like a siren.

I was particularly drawn to the card area.

I've spent $20 on a box of Christmas cards before, just because they said "Hallmark" on the back.

No more.

I'm not a fan of wordy braggy holiday newsletters, and these gorgeous cards from Target make an excellent alternative! Sure, I could try to make my own, but they might not get done until next Christmas and they'd probably end up costing more.

You can't beat $9 a box for some beautifully embellished Christmas cards!

I loooove the buttons and wording on this one. Too cute!

My to-do list includes mailing out our Christmas cards in a timely manner this year. I'm usually pretty good about it, but I have more on my plate this year.

Today, I'm thankful for a thrifty alternative to Hallmark.

{What are you thankful for today?}

If you link up, please be sure to include a link back to this post. Thanks!

  1. Those do look cool! Thanks for reminding me about Christmas cards. I never think about them until it's too late. Maybe I'll try making some cool cards this year. Or not. I don't know yet.

    Today I am thankful for to-do lists. And lists in general. I would never remember everything without them.

  3. Cute cards! I've intentionally stayed away from Target's holiday section lately - I don't want to be lured in to buying a bunch of stuff that I don't need! But it's all just so darn cute! I love those cards...that's a good reminder to get my list in order early this year :)

    I'm thankful that the weekend is right around the corner!!

  5. Hi Amanda, I just dropped over from SITS. This is a great tip! I'm cutting back on the number of cards I'm sending out this year. I figure it's better to send a few personal cards, than a bunch of impersonal ones. Thanks for the tip!

  10. Amanda, I just realized that in the blog design switch-over, I missed putting your blog on my blogroll! Sorry...it was unintentional.
    The last couple of years I've noticed that we've rec'd fewer and fewer Christmas cards and friends have made the same comment. I think the trend is heading digital. It's kind of sad, because beautiful cards have always been a part of the holiday decor.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
