I weighed the pros and cons.
I could stay home while my children vaulted themselves off of various pieces of furniture while I sipped my homemade mocha and chanted "Serenity Now" to myself OR I could go to the event and watch them vault themselves off of cushiony mats and be in the company of other adults.
The idea of having a chance to talk to other grown human beings won out.
I don't like to brag or anything, but it turns out that my girls are something of gymnastics prodigies.
What? Don't you wear pearls when you stretch?!
Look at the form and concentration on Natalie's face. She's clearly destined for a gold medal.
Just warming up before she begins her uneven bar routine. Her dismount includes a death-defying somersault.

Seriously, Bela, call me... (email, Facebook, Twitter?)

I see a Wheaties campaign and some Nike commercials in the works. Breakfast of champions.
But right now we'll settle for some waffles.
(note: That was the best Olympics!! I remember sitting glued to the TV)
What perfectly lovely silliness! It is kinda fun when we see our kids doing something that they seem to have an aptitide for. The dreams that mommies dream! By the way- my daughter is going to be a doctor or mathmetician, and my son is going to be a priest or a rock star!
ReplyDeleteYou were so right to let them do their jumping around somewheree else! Seriously, take every opportunity to get them OUT of the house for thier shenanigans! (Ask me how I know!) Have a great day!
Looks like so much fun! They are too cute :)
ReplyDeleteI remember that olympics!!! It really was the best one. :-) That & seeing Micheal Phelps break the world record for gold medals in one season, to bad he had to ruin his image so many times. I love that last picture of Michaela, so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great Olympics! Love Keri Strug! Talk about taking one for the team!
ReplyDeleteYour girls are PRECIOUS! SO CUTE!
Hey, I don't know Bela but Shawn Johnson is a fellow Iowan. Bring your kids to Iowa and we'll get them on the road to olympic greatness! They look like they had fun and those pearls cracked me up!

Your girls are so, so, so cute! And yes, I think Bela needs to be called. (Although, is he still coaching? Hm.)
ReplyDeleteI was such a big, megafan of the Atlanta Olympics, especially the gymnasts. I bought every bio book about the Magnificent Seven and was so obsessed with it, ha!
My kids loved those gym playdates... and my little girl went on to 1 1/2 yrs. of gymnastics.... such fun memories! Soccer won her heart in the end... I miss gymnastics... but she loves soccer now! enjoy them... time goes so fast!
ReplyDeleteJenn~
Loved the photos! And good for you for having the wherewithall to get out and be with adults while watching your kids tumble!
ReplyDeleteAwww...SO adorable! I bet it was a great day out for mom as well! Do you know I had never heard of MOPS until I started blogging? I don't think it exists around here.
