Sometimes a table to myself at Panera is just what I need (albeit, not such a large one):
And then there are other times, like when Chick Flick Club night rolls around, that this is a sight for sore eyes:
A table full of friends ready for a good chat, some good coffee, and a trip over to the movie theater for a good Chick Flick.
The Chick Flick Club stuck with Panera Bread for our pre-movie refreshments. No waiting, no reservations (hard when you don't always know who will show up), no big bill, no tips. I settled on my favorite cafe mocha and a pecan roll, while a few other girls chose to go the dinner route. We had over an hour to catch up, laugh, and have some girl talk before Panera closed its doors.
It was perfection.
A few more friends met up with us at the movie.
I bet the people behind us loved my camera's flash and my enthusiasm over the Sex and the City 2 trailer.
I'm not sorry.
Our pick for February?
Valentine's Day, of course! It reminded me a lot of Love Actually, which is a fave of mine (Hugh Grant dancing across the Prime Minister's home??! Priceless).
Valentine's Day isn't as smooth as Love Actually, but it has some sweet and funny moments. It's also packed with star power: Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper, and so on.
I've only seen Ashton Kutcher in That 70s Show and in a small part in Cheaper By the Dozen. He does physical comedy pretty well, but I wasn't expecting much from him in this role. I was pleasantly surprised! He was very likeable, especially in his scenes with his on-screen pal, Jennifer Garner.
Several of the storylines were very touching...I won't give away any details. There were also a few hilarious outtakes at the end. Worth staying in your seat for an extra minute or two!
A good pick!
I don't have the slightest clue what we'll be seeing in March, but here are some trailers of movies I want to see soon!
And of course this one!!
And this will require its own separate post, of course:
{Have you seen any good movies lately?}
What a special and wonderful night!! Love the pics! I am sure they really appreciated your flash and were probably terrified. LOL!!
ReplyDeletePecan roll sounds so yummy!! I would skip dinner for that myself!
Last movie I saw was Avatar and Sherlock Holmes...loved them both.
Hugs
SueAnn
Looks like you girls had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteOne night some girlfriends and I had a chick flick night here at my house. Our families were all out of town or occupied for one reason or other, and we got together over here and watched my all-time chick flick fave, Sabrina (the Harrison Ford version). With four guys in my family, I'm much more apt to watch a men's movie than a chick flick. . . but sometimes it's so nice just to let your heart dance through a nice little romance. :)
How fun!! A girl needs a night out with girlfriends. I have a friend coming up from Los Angeles and we are going to go and see this movie. I am also renting some chick flicks and laying around all one day will be heaven for her,she never gets to relax. Glad you had such a great time, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteOur Chick Flick movie club also saw "Valentine's Day" this past weekend! How funny! It was good - I read one review beforehand and it was awful. I thought it was a cute movie. Never read reviews! We're seeing "Young Victoria" next although there are some cute ones coming out in the next few months.
ReplyDeletehow fun, can't beat Panera bread and the movies!
ReplyDeleteI saw Valentine's day and liked it more than I thought I would.
Crazy Heart was another one I saw a few weeks ago, very good!
Stopping by from SITS. I need a movie night. I can't wait for Saturday when I get together with some girlfriends too. We may also see Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhh! That's me screaming like a little girl over the twilight preview! I didn't know there was a preview out yet!
ReplyDeleteYour girls night looks so fun!
I can't even tell you the last time I saw a movie in the theater. But I do love their popcorn. Sometimes a craving is so bad I'll make the hubby stop just so I can run in and get some popcorn!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I have a book club group that meets once a month but seriously? sometimes I can't even get one book read. This would be such a stressless fun alternative to time with the women I love. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any good movies lately. Actually I can't recall the last time I've been to the movies. It must be nice to have a group of girlfriends to get together with. It looks like lots of fun. Wish I lived in Virginia or at least with my mom in Maryland then I could crash your parties! :)
ReplyDeleteThere ain't nothin' as fun as a great night out with the gals. ESSENTIAL for sanity ! That 'Date Night' movie looks hysterical ! So right up my alley - can't wait !!! I'm going to surprise the hub with it, I'm sure he will love it - he loves Steve. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time! can't wait to see Date Night! Last movie i saw at the theater was It's Complicated. I thought that was very good, wish they hadn't made Steve Martin so serious.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from SITS.
So glad you had such a good night! I love girls' nights!
ReplyDeleteI know it's not a chick flick necessarily, but I LOVED Sherlock Holmes!
I rarely make it to a movie.
Sounds fun! Oh and I definitely wanna see Alice in Wonderland!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea! I really want to see Shutter Island and Alice in Wonderland. I only go to about 3 movies per year (unfortunately).
ReplyDeleteOoooohhhh...awesome trailers! Date Night looks hilarious. I can't wait to see all three of those movies!
ReplyDeleteNot a one. Can't remember the last movie I saw in the theater actually. Sad, hmm? :) But we just watched Love Actually again the other night! Glad you had a fun "girls' night out", sounds like y'all had a great time!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Stacey
It sounds like you and your friends had such a fun night. Valentine's Day is a movie that I want to see once it goes to the dollar place. New Moon is there now and I must get there before it leaves!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the decorating suggestions. I think your link party is right up my ally. And the fire place that is so funny, I have not spent a lot of time actually enjoying it I have been so busy trying to figure that room out. Thanks for opening my eyes to it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the girls night look like a blast. I need me one of those!
Girls night out is the best!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Alice in Wonderland, though, that's more a movie with the family than a movie with the girls.
The Steve Carrell/Tina Fey movie looks great, too. Oh, and Iron Man 2 in May with Mickey Rourke! Can't wait.
Thanks for including me in your chick flick club. I find it so hard to feel like part of a group here (everyone sorta already has their little groups) but I felt very included this night. It was hysterical sitting next to you during the Sex in the City preview. You gasped so loud I thought you may have inhaled a popcorn kernel. LOL! :) Truely, I feel blessed to have you as a friend. Thanks again. Can't wait for next month!
ReplyDeletelooks like it was a great night! I love that you do this...might have to start this up with some girlfriends around here!
ReplyDeleteTOO fun! I wanted to see that! Netflix I guess... sigh! I am WAY overdue for a good chick flick in the movies! ;) I am planning to spend Saturday with my sisters... rare! maybe we will do something girly!
ReplyDeleteJust Jenn~
I cant even remotely imagine what it would be like to escape with some friends for a night. I can dream, right? Looks like you had fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Always looking for new ways to get us mommies together.
ReplyDeleteHappy SITS Saturday.
That chick flick club of yours looks like a blast! I\We enjoyed Valentine's Day but I'm really looking forward to Date Night, it looks hilarious but also well done.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun! I hadn't heard much about that movie (I'm a bit out of the loop, lol) but now I think I'll have to Netflix-it when it becomes available.
ReplyDeleteAnd absolutely looking forward to SaTC2!
