Thanks so much to everyone who joined in or commented on any of the Decorating Dilemmas party links yesterday!
I was sitting here trying to think of why I enjoy this party so much, and it occurred to me that it's very easy to give someone else suggestions for her home because you won't be the one painting, moving furniture, building shelves, or buying fabric...unless you're a Decorating Dilemmas participant.
I'm always impressed by the way everyone offers thoughtful, genuine advice in a kind way. Feedback is offered with the knowledge that it's your home, your space, and in the end, you should fluff your nest in the way that works for you. But it sure is nice to get some ideas from people who don't have to stare at your Dilemma day in and day out! From what I hear, Rate My Space can get kind of ugly...perhaps this is a good alternative for those of us who are design-challenged. I'm pretty proud to be a part of such a fun and encouraging party.
My friend Pam wrote about a battle wives everywhere have been fighting for decades.
Her Dilemma? The Daddy Chair.
(Fortunately for Pam, she is an excellent and creative seamstress. I know she'll come up with something to blow our minds. Or take a hacksaw to it.)
A few of you had blank slates, which I love:
Oh, the possibilities! Laura's apple green bathroom is on its way to Fabulous, and Kendall's empty patio photos made me long for Springtime in this frozen tundra I live in.
Some of you seemed like you were really on your way, and just needed a little push to make your minds up:
Meg's master bedroom has the most amazing pair of lamps, and she just needed some advice for a few ways to spice the walls up.
And I'm totally inviting myself for dinner in Richella's fabulous kitchen, but only after she paints her stools. {wink}
As for Solutions, there were bunches of good ones this round!
You won't believe the way Rachelle rigged up her kitchen window treatment. Cuteness!
Amanda at Imperfectly Beautiful shared her Solution to spending big bucks on Ballard Designs accessories: make your own!
Jessi's Solution to an old melty candle? Reinvent it!
There are bunches of fun Dilemmas to take on and Solutions to drool over. Check it out if you have a chance.
Get ready to come back on March 10th and link up any Progress you've made on Dilemmas in your home.
This party is open to anyone (whether they've linked to Decorating Dilemmas in the past or not) who wants to showcase the work they've done to take their problems from Dilemmas to Delightful! If you've participated in Decorating Dilemmas in the past, consider choosing one of the posts you enjoyed the most.
Progress is anything from making a few notes and choices as to the direction you want to take or actually heading to Lowe's and tackling your project. I can't wait to see what you've been working on!
If you haven't already, take a moment to sign up for the Custom Blog Button Giveaway in celebration of my blog's new look. It's open until 5 pm (ET) tonight (Thursday).
I've had so many sweet comments on the party and the Giveaway post. I hope you will all forgive me for not being able to return every comment on my blog this time. I've visited each link for the party, but I just won't be able to get to returning the comments on my post. Thanks for understanding!
{Happy Decorating, from one amateur to some others!}
This makes me want to decorate. My whole apartment is one big decorating dilemma!
ReplyDeleteAmanda- Thanks for having the party! I got some good feedback, and some ideas are brewing in my head...Can't wait for the progress party!! Your parties are just so fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't make the DD party yesterday....I didn't even post on my own blog yesterday, so I didn't make the post for your party. I'll try to be a better bloggy friend next time! ;S

Off to check out the other dilemnas!
Thanks for hosting. It was nice to be introduced to some new blogs to read and I got a lot of great tips and suggestions. I think I finally found a solution!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to get some inspiration. Thanks!

You had a great turn out this time that's awesome! Sorry I didn't get to link up, my house is still somewhat a disaster zone.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting, Amanda! And thanks to everyone who helped me with my dilemma. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to offer suggestions and tips. You are the best!

Hey, Amanda, oh yeah, I know about the buttons. I'm really aggravated at the person who designed those, it's her photobucket acct. that is messed up. I have MANY messages out to her now waiting to hear back. I will be getting rid of all of those when I do a makeover next month.
ReplyDeleteI do have a little note up about the button problem on my sidebar, but thanks.
Hi Amanda! Thanks for hosting, I have solutions brewing in my head! I just wanted to echo your sentiment that it is so great to share ideas/suggestions with this great group of women in such a fun supportive way. I was featured on lifehacker yesterday and found that it is a cold cruel world out there. Not all blogging communities are as hospitable as ours!
ReplyDeleteOh it looks like fun! Sorry I missed it. I love, love your new blog design girl. Very fresh and inviting!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting the party! It was great and I was so impressed by how many people gave such nice and thoughtful advice. You did a great job putting this together! Thanks also for your advice yesterday. I'm excited to get to work on it!
ReplyDeleteThis was fun! I can't wait to go to work on my shelf over the long weekend. :) Again, thanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great party! I think there are a few I haven't made it to yet, but I spent a good part of yesterday making the rounds and doling out advice ;)
ReplyDeleteHey girl - this is such an awesome party concept. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to posting one of my many dilemmas. But like you said it is more fun to give than received so I'm off to check it all out!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the linky love, Amanda!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I joined the party. I've had these barstools for three years now, and I've gone 'round and 'round about what to do with them. Nearly everyone who visited said that I should paint them! This gives me courage. My family has said that I was crazy to think about painting over the nice wood (what is it with men and wood??), but now I'm convinced.
Now, after these are painted, you can come sit right here at the bar and I'll make you one of those margaritas I promised! :)
It was a great party, Amanda - as always!
ReplyDeleteI really, really enjoyed this party. It was fun to visit some new blogs and to see the variety in dilemas. I've worked on mine a bit using the great suggestions that I received. Thanks again for being the hostess with the mostest!
ReplyDeleteYou had some great stuff featured! :) I'm late to this, I'm not getting updates from you on my reader! Uh-Oh!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to unfollow and re follow and see how it goes.
I thought I lost you! <3
