A friend commented on my personal Facebook account yesterday that I have been holding out on my blog's audience and you all are due for another performance. I think she might have been drinking when she listened to the song in the link above and/or left me the comment, but just in case she wasn't and Natalie truly is destined for Broadway, I requested and was granted an exclusive performance.

I should seriously be invoking a cover charge here, because the talent you are about to witness is going to blow your mind. I predict that Hollywood agents will be begging me
(Also, their hair looks this way because they just woke up from their naps and also it's part of their stage look. And yes, Michaela Byrd is wearing a man's dress shirt wrapped around her shoulders. It's called a costume, for those of you not familiar with showbiz.)

It's okay. It took Natalie nearly 4 years to grow her talent to this level. And I must say that Michaela Byrd's grasp of the lyrics could be daunting to those of you who are just starting out on your musical careers.
Sometimes stars are born. Sometimes they are made. And sometimes they just want a straw cup and some crackers.

ReplyDeleteAmanda, I love this!! What precious girls you have.They actually can sing, amazing. Natalie even has a little vibrato going on. Too cute!! I love that you are teaching them to sing. I have found music to be such an important part in little one's lives. My oldest was born with a song in his heart, that is what we like to say. He use to do what I would call sing/play. He would make up songs about whatever he was playing from a very early age. Thank you for sharing these two little angels with your readers, Kathysue

ReplyDeleteDo you sing Edelweiss every night? I used to sing Twinkle Twinkle every night to Little Dude, but now it's Jesus Loves Me, with a rare request for Silent Night. It really seems to help him calm down and get ready to sleep. Daddy refuses to sing unless I am out of town, then he will croak out Twinkle Twinkle, reluctantly!

ReplyDeleteIf you could teach them the Trolley Song (you know: Clang, clang, clang went the trolley. Ding, ding, ding went the bell. Zing, zing, zing went my heart strings. From the moment I saw him I fell.) I would heart you big time. It's on both my and Indy's iPods. We sing it all the time in the car (along with the entire Mama Mia soundtrack). :)

ReplyDeleteI have to admit I've never seen the Sound of Music from start to finish (I'm really not a musical type of gal...at all, shocking I know!), so from my lack of knowledge...the performances and the lyrics seemed perfect!
Those two are the most precious little girls. Natalie really does have a pretty voice.

ReplyDeletebeauitful.. I sing Edelweiss to my little guy EVERY night also - had no idea any other mommy would as well. I feel like I should be singing something in our language but he clearly preferes Edelweiss. Anyway, i just stumbled upon ur blog and love it :)
