I wanted to share a little Spring spruce-up project with you today. Nothing ground breaking or earth shattering. Just a quick pick-me-up for my Dining room, which sported pine cones and glittered snowflakes this year for longer than I care to admit.
Like my Spring Bunny Frame , my Newspaper Easter Eggs, and the old Easter Bunny Makeover, most of my projects as of late have been completed using only items I had on hand in my house.
I found a tea cup display stand in my Spring decorations storage box. It used to sit in my Kitchen until I got tired of dusting it constantly and decided that maybe tea cups on display weren't my thing anymore. It was a nice surprise to open the box and see it. Kind of like when you change purses and discover your favorite lip gloss, long forgotten.
Anyways, I thought it might be fun to relocate the tea cup display to the Dining room, which was feeling neglected. I moved all the sewing stuff I'd been busy with and got to work fluffing, using items I found in the storage box. Luckily, I like birds.
Each tier holds a different nest. The second tier has malted milk balls from Natalie's Easter basket. I may or may not have eaten three of them before putting the rest in the nest. And I may or may not have told Natalie that those were not good to eat and she should not touch Mommy's bird nest eggs or she might choke.
So there you have it. A nice, fresh look for my Dining room that cost me nothing. But maybe I should go buy Natalie some more malted milk eggs.

{Have you shopped your house lately to come up with some Decorating Solutions?}
Love how you told your daughter she might choke if she ate them. Its like when I use fruit for display and I tell the kids there might be a worm in this bunch!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet display, I love using things I have around the house!
oh, i'm so excited! thank you so much!
ReplyDeletelove your spring decoration-great idea-i need to start thinking outside of the box!
I am off to do some sprucing up in the house this morning...and I would so use my kids candy and tell them not to touch it it was bad if they had not downed it all on Easter morning....hmmm maybe they are on to me.

Very cute! I love the nests...they are so springy:)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty display! Don't you love it when you can make a display without buying a thing? Using this stand for nests instead of tea cups was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I have one of those stands and it's sitting empty because I don't know what to put on it now. Thanks for the idea!

You have such great ideas!! I've started a Messy Monday link party and would love for you to join! Come check it out at www.pumpkinpatchdesigns.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou clever girl. I like your re-purposed stand! It's a great height, and I really like the bird theme.
ReplyDeleteAnd aren't you a good mom for shielding your daughter from the dangers of eating decorations?
nests are so cute - great job, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSoooo sweet! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou are so bad..."she might choke"??? HA! One way to keep candy handy! LOL! Cute pick me up!
ReplyDeleteSo light and breezy!

I love it! I wish my kids would listen to me when it comes to candy! Usually I tell them they can't have any, I walk out of the room and have a 3 year old and an 18 month old on the counter searching the cabinets for it. I have contemplated removing the bar stools(toddler ladders) from the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteSo cute Amanda! I love that tiered plate holder. It is so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHave a really great day my friend!

Your nests and eggs are super cute. I think you should definitely do something fun for your 24th birthday. ;)It is sortof a special one. Looking forward to Wed. party. I don't know if I'll have a problem area, but excited to look at everyone else's.
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute Amanda! Funny about the candy eggs. Do you think she believed you?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! It is so soft and spring-y!
ReplyDeleteI also lie to my children when it serves my purpose. That's what moms are supposed to do, right?
That is just precious. I haven't done this myself...but on Journey Chic I saw a girl who had used a ceramic egg crate as a jewelry holder and it was adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is really cute! I am trying to come up with a decorating dilemma so I can participate in the party.
ReplyDeleteHey Girl! Can we post updates on the DD party? Or should we save those for a dilemma to delightful party?
ReplyDeleteI love birds! Very very cute!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Amanda!

As far as your dilemma goes, are you keeping the BBQ against that window? If you move it to the wall with the siding on it, you could add another seating area under the window and the screen that everyone has suggested would flow better. I also like the idea of putting a tall plant there, with a grouping of smaller plants. It just seems like there needs to be more soft furnishings or plants added to the area.
Thanks for the party!
