There have been whispers of rumors here in the 'Burg for several months. I heard from a friend who heard from a friend that a Hobby Lobby might be on its way to town. I didn't dare hope too much for fear that my dreams would be dashed to pieces.
Then, yesterday, my friend Nadir emailed me to tell me that a coworker saw a sign for HL in a local vacant store window. I broke the news to my 'Burg friends on my personal Facebook page and met with two camps: girls who were wildly insanely excited (as they rightfully should be) and girls who were like, "huh?"
My friend Michelle asked, "Is it a craft store?"
I couldn't blame her for asking because she didn't know about the fabulousness to come, and maybe you don't know. So I will tell you. Not because I am in any way affiliated with Hobby Lobby but because I feel as if it should be some sort of public service announcement for everyone to know how awesome this place is.
Scrapbook paper for miles, crafty stuff, lamps, fabric, home accessories, holiday decorations...they have it all, peeps. And the best part is, they run coupons often, so you can get some great bargains along with their regular sales. I found some good stuff there during my last Black Friday shopping extravaganza.
To say that I'm excited would be a bit of an understatement, I'm afraid. I envision some really neat new Christmas decorations this year to replace ones that having been floating around the T house for 9 years. I can bet that Nadir and I will be in the HL parking lot on opening day, giddy as school girls.
{Are there any stores or restaurants you'd like to see move into your town?}
I know we could use a PF Changs and a Cheesecake Factory. Maybe a Williams Sonoma too? I'm hoping that writing this will make it happen. Dreams do come true!

Oh how fun for you!!!! I am so happy for you!! LOL The closest craft/fabric type store for me is at least 3 hours away...I will be drooling over your posts about it and living vicariously so be sure to have lots of fun for all of us! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the huge selection of crafty stuff that Hobby Lobby has and that it is only 20 minutes from my house, but I hate the long checkout lines...and there is always a long checkout line!
ReplyDeleteWhile I do love Hobby Lobby - you could blindfold me and walk me in there and I wouldn't know the difference between them and Michaels. They also run coupons all the time because they are so overpriced!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!
ReplyDeleteI would like to have an A.C. Moore nearby ... and CiCi's Pizza. :)
Yay! That's so exciting. Our closest Hobby Lobby is about 20-30 min away, so I've not been. We just moved here and where I used to live we had Paper Sources. I LOVE the Paper Source and really miss it. I'll have to make it to Hobby Lobby one of these days....I have been to Swoozies to rad their paper selection. I make mostly cards when I craft something these days, but I've been getting into bow making...
ReplyDeleteHAHA! You bet I'll be there! I just hope it's not during my work hours, I might need to play hookey that day! Haha! Woohoo! I can't contain my excitement! :-D
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a Whole Foods in walking distance, but I'm not going to hold my breath... what we are getting is a WalMart... I am not pleased :(
ReplyDeleteI want a TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I do take my Hobby Lobby for granted. I thought they were everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Hobby Lobby! I had never heard of it before I moved to Texas and once I went I was hooked! I REALLY wish we had Home Goods here. I would also love a In 'n Out- love there burgers! I'm so happy for you getting a Hobby Lobby!!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
So jealous!! I've never been in a Hobby Lobby, but it sounds fabulous. Maybe my town will get one, too.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! You have to be in heaven! I am hoping that I can pawn my kids off on my Mom for a couple of hours this weekend and make the 45 min drive to Pueblo where they just opened a new Joann's! Hopefully your HL opens fast!
ReplyDeleteI moved from a town where the closest craft store was an hour away to a town were I have at least 3 within 10 miles. I'm content... for now =)

ReplyDeletehow fun!! We don't have a HL here ... yet. We're getting one too - I can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteOh your so lucky!! I would love if we got a Hobby Lobby. Which will never happen. :( Everyone raves about Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeleteWe actually have two Hobby Lobby's!! woohoo! And what one doesn't have, the other does! And I love their coupons and their discount sale isle!! Just two weeks ago, the sales isle offered 80% off items on the shelves!! OMG! Got some terrific items!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new store!!
Hugs
SueAnn
Oh that is so awesome!!! There needs to be more Hobby Lobby's in VA! I went through such withdrawls when we lived in Newport News not having one near.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely love our Hobby Lobby! Amazing!!! Glad you get to enjoy too :)
ReplyDeleteUh oh - I think my semi-regular trips from Virginia Beach to Frederick MD are about to get longer. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or worried that its so close to 95?
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you! They have the best sales.
ReplyDeleteIf we could just get a Target, I'd be so happy.
ReplyDeleteWe do have a Hob Lob, and it is pretty great :)
I would do anything if a good Mexican food joint would make it my town. I got spoiled in Houston. Congrats on your HL!
ReplyDeleteHobby Lobby is great. You know the best thing about Hobby Lobby? Hobby Lobby clearance. Oh yeah!!! I got tons of stuff there in March for 90%off.I love deals.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the biggest, craftiest person around - although I DO love spray paint - but I think that will be quite a fun place for you! We don't have a Hobby Lobby here, but we have Michael's which will have to do for now! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAmanda Dear, I don't need to tell you that you are going to LOVE a Hobby Lobby! Oh yes you are!
ReplyDeleteIt is rumored our town is getting a Trader Joe's! I am jumping up and down and hoping it is true!!
Donna
I just checked their site and there's one opening near me too! Woo-hoo!
ReplyDeleteNO WAY, AMANDA!! WHERE IS IT GOING TO BE?? I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT A HOBBY LOBBY COMING TO TOWN!
ReplyDeleteMy list includes (not that I've thought about it in great detail or anything):
ReplyDelete- Home Goods
- Pottery Barn
- Restoration Hardware
- Williams-Sonoma
- Olde Tyme Pottery
- Garden Ridge
We actually have a Hob Lob, and it's good. Realllll good. ;)
We have all four of the ones you mentioned, and I rarely go to any of them. I used to live basically across the street from HL, so I went a lot more often back then.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'm going to say this place needs...IKEA!
You will LOVE having one in your town, although your husband might have to start working overtime to support your new addiction! ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish we had an Archiver's scrapbook megastore...I have gone to their website and left comments begging for them to come our way. No luck yet. Have fun shopping!
LOVE Hobby Lobby...it is fairly new around here too.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I wish would come here? Oh, remember that store you told me about that sorts all their accessories by color?
Yeah, I could use one of those!
I have one literally 5 minutes from the office and it is FANTASTIC! I am so happy for you - a crafty girl has to have a great place to get her basics. And the sale stuff is amazing!! Just got a lampshade on clearance for $3.30! Love it!
