I've been
I'm singing the summertime blues here. I can't seem to keep Natalie busy enough and we are both ready for her to get back into the routine of preschool!
The girls drove me so insane on Saturday that when I passed the wine cooler aisle in Wal-Mart (I know, I know, what was I thinking to take two wild kids to WM on a Saturday...afternoon, no less), I blindly grabbed the first thing I saw. When they went to bed that night, I mellowed out with a Bartles and Jaymes while watching Law and Order: Criminal Intent. I pretended like I was at the beach...with Jeff Goldlbum? This was nice because it gave me some nice beachy vibes without any hangover for Sunday School the next day. That would have been a problem.
So, anyways, it worked out nicely that The CSI Project is hosting a Back to School Challenge this week. Natalie has Preschool Orientation this morning, but she doesn't start back to class officially until next Monday.
So close, yet so far away.
Back to School has clearly been on my mind for a few weeks, as well as the more important topic of Back to School Outfits. Am I the only girl who plans her child's Back to School ensemble weeks in advance?
Natalie's dress is to-die-for cute with little navy and white oxford saddle shoes. But she needed an accessory.
That's where this week's challenge comes in. (I knew I'd eventually get to that part)
I used ribbon, glue, wire, and a metal barrette that I had in my craft supply stash. A quick trip to JoAnn Fabric yielded some cute school-themed buttons, which I layered and used as embellishments.
Not my best work, but it'll do.
I'm going to finish out this busy week by doing deep breathing exercises. And maybe drinking some more Bartles and Jaymes.
Its so true, the drinking does help, it calms the nerves. Having the kids home for a long weekend was a bit crazy so I am glad today they are back to school! Soon enough yours will be there!
ReplyDeleteCute back to school bows!
Oh how cute is that! Makes me wish my daughter were little again ;) Stopping by from CSI project!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute, Amanda! Hair bows make great little accessories.
ReplyDeleteI remember the days of dressing my boys in such cute clothes. One Easter I made my two oldest boys matching bow ties out of Easter egg fabric. A little hokey, maybe, but so cute! :)
No hair bows for us, though. Not ever.

So cute . . . makes me wish my girls would keep bows in their hair.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I had Lil's outfit picked out weeks ago, she goes back today.. However it's KINDERGARTEN this year.. Eek.. I just don't want to be the Mom that cries. ;)
ReplyDeleteRachelle
Not your best work? Aww, I think it's super cute! If my next little babe is a girl I'm going to freak out. I will LOVE making and putting little bows in her hair. *sigh* It makes me all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it.

A little wine cooler never hurt anyone! :) There sure is something to be said for the routine and structure that school provides after a long break. I remember as a child looking forward to school after the summer break. The hair bow is too cute. I bet it's so fun to have a girl!! My girl niece will arrive this month so I'll have someone to spoil with all things girly.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute little bow!
ReplyDeleteI so hear you about WANTING school to start already! I was so happy when mine went to school, finally. August is just a killer month. Next year, I'm putting them in day camp the whole month of August! That just might keep me off the wine coolers...
You are too funny! Sunday School hangovers are the WORST! Sadly, I've been there.
ReplyDeleteSuuuper cute bow! Love the crayons! Precious!
Oh I love the bow! Know what you mean about the supermarket isle. Only in my case it's the popcorn. I guess it makes me feel like a kid again!
ReplyDeleteOh, this post made me chuckle. I want a glass of wine after a long day of work - I cannot imagine having two rambunctous kiddos. I think I should join AA proactively. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the hair bow. Such a cute school theme!
Amen to the B&J. Been there. What spells 'back to school' more than girls in hair bows embellished with crayons? Maybe a bouquet of 'freshly sharpened pencils' ala 'You've Got Mail' but not much more.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
