Falling for Autumn

I'm usually a fan of winter. I like cute boots. I like jeans that cover me up. I like Christmas.

However, with winter comes snow. And since having children, I have learned that being snowed in with small people generally leads to insanity.

So, this year, I have decided to embrace Fall. Changing leaves, crisp air, Halloween costumes, pumpkin bread. And don't forget the boots.

Last week, I played around with an old Easter wall bucket that I found at a yard sale last year for a dollar or so. I wanted to make something for the door without spending a fortune.

Before, shimmery shiny Easter wall bucket:

After:
I had the spray paint and florals in my stash, but I did buy the ribbon with a 40% JoAnn's coupon. I need to make the ribbon bigger, but I like the colors I have goin' on.

My door is ready for Fall. I'm waiting for the weather to turn cooler so I can break the boots out!

  3. Yeah, I'm going to have to give into the Fall bug too. I will miss summer. It was a good one this year.
The floral arrangement is beautiful. Great job. I have to get onto doing something for my front door soon.

    Have a great day!

  4. Oooooh, looks great...I go weak at the knees with great ribbon. My box of it(yes, BOX) is overflowing, and yet I still get more. I should be in the bow making business! :D

  5. Oh Amanda that is so cute! What a great job you did. Living in southern CA, it takes me awhile to get into the fall mood since we really don't get real changes of the season.

  7. love this!!
I can't relate to being 'snowed' in...but I imagine it's like being stuck inside during a hurricane - no fun at all (esp w/little ones)

love some cute boots too :)

  9. That basket looks fab with it's new fall coat! So nice when we can give things a little makeover.

Fall/Halloween is my favorite time of year but boots season never ends for me, lol, I wear 'em all year round if the mood strikes :)

  10. Very cute! Now if the weather would just cooperate, we'd be in business. We have a few "teaser" days, but today it's in the 90's again here. Can I just say that I am tired of sweating just because I'm alive? I don't mind working up a sweat if I'm exercising or working hard, but I do not like feeling all stinky when I'm just standing around. Ugh.

Okay, enough whining. On to looking forward to fall! When are you going to show us your boots?

  27. I can totally relate with you. I lived in WV for a while and my kids would be out of school for days. We would literally get a snow warning and then know to stock up on food for 3 to 4 days because we would get stuck and snowed in. I also became a hermit for those 2 years too. Now I live in Ca and don't miss winter at all really. My kids do but can't say that I do. I like not having to warm my car up for 10 min before leaving.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
