It's back to the daily grind today...preschool drop-off, errands, wearing real clothes all day....
One of the things that started strong in 2010 and fizzled out later was my Chick Flick Club, and it was completely my fault. I can complain about a shortage of good chick flicks, but I know I got in over my head with activities and commitments.
Friendships need nurturing and one of my goals for 2011 is to find stress-free ways to get together with my girlfriends. Starting up the Chick Flick Club again is a good beginning.
Here are a few possibilities for January and February:
Ashton Kutcher is surprisingly good in chick flicks, and he's certainly easy on the eyes.
Jennifer Aniston can do no wrong. I judge a lot of movies by the heroine's hair (yes, I know I'm shallow), and she always has fabulous hair. I haven't seen Adam Sandler in a film since 50 First Dates, so I'm looking forward to seeing their chemistry together.
I'm not even a big country music fan, but I like Gwyneth. She also gets good hair points in this one, and her voice sounds great!
So...a few cute selections. Nothing too serious or thought-provoking. Just a couple of fun movies to take our minds off of reality for a short while. We usually like to grab coffee or dessert beforehand. We have a really nice new theater in town now behind the newer section of our mall. If it's not too frigid outside, I just might make time for a stop in Sephora beforehand. Mama needs a makeover!

I want to see all three of those movies! Though, will probably just wait for the dvds.
ReplyDeleteMy besties and I saw Little Fockers, when I was home in MI. It was funny! We went to dinner first and caught up on our lives and then topped it off with a great movie!
ReplyDeleteHope your club starts up again! : )
Hugs!

Ohhh Country Song looks really great Amanda and I don't even like anything to do with country music or that entire culture hehe thanks for the suggestions!! Whoop whoop :) Happy New Year love bug xo
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of chick flick night, I have been trying to think of things I can do with friends once a month. It makes it easier on us and our hubbies if we get the kids in bed and meet up afterwards, a movie and coffee sounds like a winner to me.
ReplyDeleteWe just kicked off our 2011 Chick flick Movie Club here in Indiana with "Black Swan" last night. Creepy but really good!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen the trailer for No Strings Attached. It looks cute! I'm dying to see the Jennifer Aniston/Adam Sandler one though. FUN!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been out with my girls in FOREVAH! Some of the girls had a falling out - sad, but true. We used to have Mexican food potluck or go out for Mexican food and then to a movie. Yep. We all had a thing for Mexican food. I really gotta get out more.
What a fun idea! My girls and I need to organize something like this ... it's so easy to go way to long between visits.
ReplyDeleteThe period mix tape totally sold me on "No Strings Attached"! Sunday Bloody Sunday...so disgustingly funny!
ReplyDeleteI had my first girls night of 2011 last night. My friend made "Lucky Soup" and spoon bread for dinner and then we planned to watch a movie, but we talked instead and played with her Great Dane. Actually, the Great Dane pretty much sat in my lap the whole night.
ReplyDeleteI really want to see Country Strong but I probably won't until it comes out on DVD.
I love being in your chick flick club...I've missed it! Can't wait to see any of these with a group of great ladies.
ReplyDeleteThese all look like good movies. I really like Jennifer and I like Adam Sandler so that would probably be my first choice but the others sound good to.The one with Gweneth was filmed in Nashville, the area where we live so we defiantly want to check that one out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! All three of these are on my mental list. Let us know which you choose.
