Either way, your friends are gonna love you and your Big Game party guests are going to be so distracted by the chocolatey butterscotchy goodness that they won't care whether the Dolphins or the Broncos win. What? Isn't that who's playing this weekend? I dunno...I tune in for the commercials, unless a team I like is playing.
I made a batch of these last week for a group of ladies coming over to plan for our upcoming MOPS meetings, and only one was left at the end of the night. I was so disappointed that Natalie and Michaela Byrd wouldn't get to try one, that I made another batch the next day. The worked out nicely for
Note: This recipe didn't originally call for chocolate, but I think everything is better with chocolate, so I tend to add the chips in until I think it looks good. I also add extra butterscotch chips. I'm a maverick like that.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup chocolate chips (but let's be honest, I just load them in)
1 large egg
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 cups Bisquick
1 t. vanilla extract
Instructions:
Empty ingredients into a medium bowl. Stir in softened butter, 1 large egg, and 1 t. vanilla extract. Press into greased, 8 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 18 to 22 minutes or until light golden and set in center.
Sit back and wait for the compliments to come rolling in. I guess you could do without the nuts in this recipe. Sometimes I forget that T doesn't like nuts and I accidentally put them on the grocery list and buy them and put them in the bars. It's a shame, but I am always willing to make up for his slack. I'm a good wife like that.
{Have you made any delicious winter treats lately?}

Yay! Thanks for this! I'm going to make it for the Superbowl!
ReplyDeleteOh, yum. These look delicious and easy and ... you're right, everything is better with chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI just tried a recipe for butterscotch brownies; it wasn't at all what I'd expected (but we ate it anyway). In the last week I've also baked a sourdough coffee cake and a double chocolate cake. Hmmm ... could this be a clue to why I haven't lost any weight this week?!
oh yum-love one with my coffee right now :) thanks for sharing the recipe, if i had butterscotch chips in the house, i'd make this with the kids since we're snowed in today!
ReplyDeleteYum! I think I can do this.
ReplyDeleteThat kind of sounds like a blonde brownie recipe that I make...except I don't add the butterscotch chips. I bet this would be really good with peanut butter chips too! YUMMO!
ReplyDeleteOh yum! I think I'll try these for the superbowl this Sunday. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo. These look delicious.
ReplyDeleteButterscotch chips are responsible for some of the extra pounds I took to Blissdom. Who knew they were so good right out of the bag? Oh, gosh.
I do have a Super Bowl party coming up, though, so I guess I have a moral obligation to bake some fattening treats. Right?
Durn, those look good! I took the weekend off from my diet, but I soooo need to get back on it! I'm bookmarking this though. I will try them, eventually. YUM! You're right about chocolate making EVERYTHING better!
ReplyDeletewow, those look good! This is definitely my kind of Super Bowl food! I'm into the sweets : )
ReplyDeleteOh my word! Those look delicious...with vanilla ice cream...for breakfast...Uh oh, starting to hate you!
ReplyDeleteThose look perfectly sinful (does that mean I am feeling that you are being evil for sharing such a temptation??? I have had NO carbs today....do you hear me?).
ReplyDeleteHmmm, wonder if I could resist if I made them for my boys? You know in the spirit of being a good mom and all....
I haven't made any sweets this week, though I did make homemade Chicken pot pie last night for dinner.
OH MY!! they look fantastic!!!
ReplyDeletep.s. new follower!!!
ReplyDeleteI vote hate.... :) Okay I could never hate ya -- but my hips might..

ReplyDeleteThis is not good for my pre-wedding diet!
ReplyDeleteYummy!
Good thing I don't have butterscotch chips at home or I would try these out right now! They look delicious and I'm sure I'd eat more than my share and then our beautiful blog relationship would turn sour! Good thing!
ReplyDeleteYummy! I love butterscotch (and chocolate, of course)! I would have to be like T though and leave OUT that nuts.
ReplyDeleteOh, these look dangerous! :-) I need to make these when we're having company so I don't eat them all.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the Disneyland post. If you ever go, let me know. I have tons of tips. Hubby and I love telling anyone who will listen how much we love Disneyland.
Oh my! Looks and sounds delicious! I will give them a try for sure!!
ReplyDeleteAnd why wait for Super Bowl...Ha!
Hugs
SueAnn
These look super. I'm definitely copying this to put in my recipe binder. I probably would substitute more chocolate chips for the nuts. I like nuts, but I like chocolate even more. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is thank goodness I don't have any Bisquick in the house! I don't think I could stand the temptation!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, these look AMAZING!!
ReplyDeleteOh, you evil temptress! These look unbelievably good.
ReplyDeleteOh YUM these sound delicious!!! Mmmm wish I had some right now :)
ReplyDeleteYum yum. Adding this to my "wanna bake" list. Like I needed another sweet. I have a love hate relationship with these goodies. Can't wait to try!
