{cue creepy Poltergeist music here}
I love my "host of golden daffodils" (name that poem for 100 points!), but I am continually frustrated year after year by their lack of ability to gauge the season.
I want to stuff them back into the ground and yell, "Um, hi? It's February, guys. It's probably going to snow again, and then we'll all look stupid. I'm the chick talking to her daffodil bulbs that sprout too early, and you'll be frozen."
They were originally planted in a nice straight line across the front of my flower bed, in a manner most pleasing to my Type A control freak sensibilities. It irks me that they didn't stay in line. They decided to not only sprout up whichever way they pleased, but also to multiply.
Overachievers.
Tee-hee :) That happens to me too. Anyway, it is nice to see the promise of new life once again.
ReplyDeleteHappy day!

I hate when the tree in our front yard sprouts little flower buds and then it gets cold again and they turn all brown and wilty!
ReplyDeleteI think this week is going to be a total tease for all of us and then we'll get 5 more blizzards! LOL at the type A planting...daffodils are definitely not obsessive compulsive anything~very free spirited, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteHeehee! I haven't checked to see if my daffodils have tried to sprout up yet. At least you'll have some nice pretties to display soon. I hope it doesn't snow so they'll survive! :-)
ReplyDeleteNice! I will give YOU 100 points to see a vlog of you shaking your hand and talking to them! Come on you know you want the extra points! :o)

i can't wait for the first signs of spring!! hope these little guys make it!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the ground hog was right??? I can't wait for some spring blooms around here!
ReplyDeleteMine do that and I put some hay over them if its still "too early" and they do ok! Also they dont like to be a a row - they love to be in huggy bunches.:) Well - I do know the poem by Wm Wadsworth - "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" I just love that poem.... beside the lake, beneath the tree, fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
ReplyDeletehave a great day
Yay for Sring!! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes nature knows more than us, maybe spring is closer than we think! One could hope! : )
ReplyDeleteMy daffodils always get at snowed on at least once! Hope spring is closer than we think.
ReplyDeletehaha, i have the opposite problem... everything in my yard is dead ue to the unusually cold weather in Houston this year. Today feels rather springy so I may got dig everything up to make way for some new stuff :)
ReplyDeleteI have GOT to get bulbs planted this fall! I love those early signs of spring!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my tulips to sprout this spring! I finally planted bulbs last fall and am anxious to see the fruits of my labor! :) Hopefully, these buggers will last through the last few weeks of winter! :)
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard out loud when I read the comment you left on Darby's blog! Thanks for making me laugh today :) Glad to find your blog, too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm sorry...but any sign of spring is joyous to me!
ReplyDeleteMine multiply too...time to divide them and share the love with my friends who love my tulips!
Hurray for a sign of spring! (Even though I have my fingers crossed for one more snow...)
ReplyDeleteIt does seem early for bulbs, but when I stop to think about it, it is about time to see them. I need to check to see if I have any signs of life!
That is so weird! It is snowing like crazy here so I am sure mine are way under ground still. I wish it was Spring. I am so sick of winter!!!

This seriously made me laugh. Ours haven't popped yet, but I'm sure they will with this crazy warm weather.
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! It's been in the high 60's here this week and I keep wondering if it's gonna snow one more time. I don't think I've seen any daffodils here yet.
ReplyDeleteI missed this post earlier this week; glad I came back to see it!
ReplyDeleteDaffodils should spring forth from the ground around March 1. And bloom on the Ides of March. I think.
That line's gotta be Wordsworth. Off to look it up!
OF COURSE it's Wordsworth! And your host may not be in a line any longer, but just think! Their dance will be more sprightly!
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Type-Aer, I am also bothered when bulbs don't seem to sprout where I planted them. But, daffodils are so lovely that I forgive them.
