Yes, it's my birthday today! I am turning twenty-faux. Again! It's like Groundhog Day or something, only with cake and presents.
Speaking of cake, I about had a nervous breakdown when I realized The Great American Cookie Company in our mall closed and I will no longer be receiving my yearly cookie cake with lots of icing and chocolate chips. It doesn't seem very Great or American to me to keep a girl from her cookie cake. They didn't even send me a "Dear John" letter!
T is the kind of guy who likes the pressure of planning things last minute. You'd think that he forgets about important things like cake and birthday plans and making me feel like the Queen (!) because he waits until I gently remind him of my big day, but I think really he just likes the excitement of it all.
He is working all day today and won't be home until after 9 tonight. Because I am a firm believer in hogging the spotlight and making the day as much about me as possible, I planned a couple of fun things for me and the girls.
We have a play date this morning followed by lunch at Chick-fil-a with my friend Christy and her kids. If I can squeeze in any opportunity to shop, I will. And Saturday night brings the Chick Flick Club back. Some of the girls are going to dinner with me, and then we'll go see Water for Elephants, because if anyone can make me forget the grief of no cookie cake, it is Robert Pattinson.
I'll be sure to apprise you of the cake situation. Cake is no laughing matter, people. I know this is as important to you as it is to me.
And if it's not, maybe you'll enjoy the Silhouette Rhinestone Tutorial I posted earlier today. There's also a crazy Silhouette promo here that you can take advantage of by using my code SERENITY. Click this morning's post for details!
I hope you'll come back tomorrow to link up YOUR best post of the week to Weekend Bloggy Reading. Recipes, crafts, home decor, book reviews, funny stories, you name it. Come prepared to showcase your blog and find some great weekend reads.

ReplyDeleteHope you and your family have a wonderful Easter!
Amanda, I hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday! I tried to send you an online card on your birthday; I don't know if it made it to you. Then somehow I never made it back online to wish you a happy day here. I finally got an Easter post written earlier today, but then didn't have time to do any visiting. Oh, well--hopefully blogging will be something I can do a bit more of this coming week. But I do want you to know I was thinking about you on the 21st and that I hope you had a wonderful day! You deserve it, for sure!!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wondering. . . how did the cake situation turn out?!
