This is how bad it is...I started to write this post, and got distracted by something shiny on Pinterest for 20 minutes. I never meant for this new hobby to get out of hand, really. But I can't help myself!
When I first read about Pinterest months ago, I thought it sounded interesting, but I didn't really see how it could be helpful to me as a blogger. I also didn't want a whole new avenue of social media to keep up with. Twitter and Facebook for networking would be enough, thankyouverymuch. I forgot about my stagnant account for some time until I saw all the buzz around the blogosphere and decided to give it another shot.
Oh. my. word.
I don't know if you've jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon yet or not, but I've discovered it's actually a really fabulous way to categorize all the eye candy I come across online. I love being able to "Pin" pictures of great recipes, crafts, room makeovers, outfits, funny quotes, etc.
Pinterest saves the links from which I find my inspiration, and I can categorize them on my own bulletin boards. I've got boards for Photography Tips, Recipes, Crafts, Rooms, Style, Quotes, Kids' Activities, and more.
Here are just a few fun things I've found on Pinterest:
So, someone, please tell me I am not alone in my addiction. Can we start a support group? I'm afraid I might try to Pin one of my kids because they are so cute. If I don't show up to the first meeting you can find me on my Pinterest page.
Because the first step is admitting you have a problem, right? Right?!
*Pinterest did not sponsor this post. But I think they should pay for my therapy since I clearly have an obsession.
I just started last week because I was afraid of becoming too addicted! My plan is to use it to organize my house decorating ideas by rooms along with recipes etc... Love it!
ReplyDeleteyou are definitely not alone!
ReplyDeleteI've been resisting for as long as I can b/c I don't know if I can keep up with one.more.social.outlet, even though I know its good for business. A friend of mine even recently wrote on my FB wall that its great for creating inspiration boards for the shop but I think I might wait til I re-open the shop for its 1 year b-day next month paired w/ a giveaway & post. (Its currently on vaycay mode so I can catch up) :-) Have fun pinning my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally addicted, so yeah, you're not alone. See you at PA-- Pinheads Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteME TOO!!!! There are so many great things on there and I love how I can categorize things that I like. The best part is that I was always saying.. I saw the best tutorial for a cute lamp shade but can't remember where! Now, I just pin it and I can always find it. I think it is an essential place to be! At least thats how I'm gonna justify it! :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on Pinterest. I love that place! I actually I have to set myself a timer so I don't get sucked in for too long. However, most times I ignore the timer as I can't tear my eyes away :) I now follow you on pinterest :)
better than being addicted to something else :) sounds fun-maybe i'll give it a try in the fall-too crazy here now with kids home, vacations and computer problems every time i turn around-so frustrating! hope your summer is going well-enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely addicted, but not yet ready to admit it's a problem. :)
ReplyDelete(Maybe that's the happiest stage of addiction?)
I've gotten more hooked the last few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm easily distracted too...so it takes me a while to find what I actually started looking for!!
My name is Stephanie and I am a Pinterest Addict :) The food is what gets me! I pin all the recipes like I am some chef and love to cook.
ReplyDeleteHi my name is Jen & I'm a Pinhead!!! LOL! I was on it the other night and my hubby says "uh it's after 11:00pm are you coming to bed". You just keep looking and pinning and it's additing for sure. You are not alone Amanda! We're all here to support each other right? ;) Just keep pinning and have a great time. :)
ReplyDeletePinterest really is awesome, isn't it? And I love it more now than ever. I started using it last September and it was pretty sparse. It has a network effect, the more people are on it, the better it gets. =)
ReplyDeleteOkay, okay. . . you got me. Can you invite me?
ReplyDeleteI'd been blissfully ignoring Pinterest, but now I'm really wanting to try it.
So if you'll give me an invite (whatever that entails), I'll join you. Maybe we could get a deal on group therapy.
By the way, I love that sewing machine diagram. SO funny!!
ReplyDeletePinterest = way too dangerous. But how could you live without it?! :D
ReplyDeleteIs there something I am not getting about Pinterest? I have tried to request an invitation and it won't send me one.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya, Sister! Addiction is the definitely the word :D
ReplyDeleteI only pretty recently discovered Pinterest and it is sooo addicting!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to your post! In fact, it makes me feel so much better about my own addiction! :) I'm going to follow you on Pinterest, and I'm also following your blog! :)

I'm addicted too! It is fun and easy to do! I love that I can go back and find the original post that the pictures came from too!
ReplyDeleteAddicted too!! The other day while backing the Nutella Pockets they stayed in the oven for more time because I was...Pinning!!!! Priority first right??!!!
ReplyDeleteHello my name is Jocelyn and I am hopelessly addicted to pinterest. There is just so much good stuff out there to pin:-) I can't stop!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit addicted myself ... I love being able to see photos of all the things I love. So much better than bookmarking.
ReplyDeleteI'm so addicted...and proud to be a Pinhead! ha! I just wish it would 'fetch' a little faster when you get down towards the bottom.. But I wait patiently. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteAmanda you are not alone in this crisis. I too find myself spending hours on this site. I have 41 boards and over 600 pins. I am a full blown addict! I won't be at the meeting, unless of course I can bring my phone. YES, there is a Pinterest app too!
ReplyDeleteI discovered Pinterest last week and am slowly becoming addicted. Good to know there is no hope for me.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Pinterest addict, I love this post. I find so much inspiration, its wonderful. Now I don't have to keep binders of cutouts from magazines, instead I can just pin to my boards. This is right up there with reading my favorite blogs!
ReplyDeleteGREAT PINS. I am a pinhead too. LOL. its totally fun and addicting. winks-jen
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone! haha! Pinning is so fun! Glad to hear someone else enjoys it as much as me! ;)

ReplyDeleteSo well said I almost want to print out this post and hang it on the frig -- no WAIT. Can I pin it???? lol
ReplyDeleteI am SO addicted, too! Can't get enough of it! I'll be following your pins there!
ReplyDeleteL-O-V-E that hairstyle! You should try it out and take pics so that we can all see it! With that being said, Pinterest is way too addicting for its own good. I'm sure millions of women have lost countless hours of time on that website!
ReplyDeleteOnce you ask for an invite how long does it take for them to get back to you? I put my e mail in and click and nothing seems to happen
ReplyDeleteLOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE me some Pintrest!!! It's seriously SO addicting...I've told a ton of people about it too...it's just pure genius. I wish I could WORK for Pintrest, haha!

Still resisting! But posts like this one (and dozens more I've stumbled upon) just might wear me down!!!
ReplyDeleteI too am a pinterest addict! I think I do more pinning than browsing, though. Before pinterest, I saved all those cute projects I liked to a folder on my desktop. But, of course I didn't always give myself a linkback to the site where the project was located. So...then I would want to find it and wouldn't be able to. Now, thanks to Pinterest, all my favorite projects are organized and easy to find! I love it! I only wish I had invented it!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm a huge "Pinhead" too! :)
ReplyDeleteGahhhh I have the same problem!! Among the other millions of yous! I couldn't even get through your whole post without pinning (I love that hairstyle tutorial :)!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I have heard all about this and swoon at what bloggers post! But I am so afraid of addiction that I have not started this.... maybe I can continue to hold out after seeing your lovely finds...
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel!! It's fabulous!! So many ideas at my finger tips!! Love it!!
