I wasn't planning on getting a makeover. But the girls were so excited about making me beautiful, that I had to relent. They love the Fancy Nancy series, and Ooh La La! It's Beauty Day! happens to be a current favorite. I sat in the kitchen and Pinned stuff on Pinterest while the girls prepared their day spa with some of my old make-up, and finally they were ready to receive clients.
It took a lot longer for the girls to complete my make-up application than I thought it would. I guess I needed a lot of work done. They used 3 headbands, a bunch of blush, and pulverized my eye shadows into dust. Then they pronounced me "fabulous." I'll let you be the judge...
I realize that to some people, I might look like a junkie who got loose on the Cover Girl aisle at Wal-Mart, or Jem, or a zombie; or maybe the blue streaks look like someone beat the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of my face with a baseball bat.
But they thought I looked fantastic.
They followed up my beauty treatments with "spa food" (ice water and chocolate covered graham cracker bites). Frankly, I was just happy I didn't have to get the snacks myself.
And then we had magazine time with 2 year old magazines that Natalie found in my donate stash. It was very relaxing, as you can see.
And when spa time was over, they took me into the other room and presented me to T, who had the good sense to feign delighted shock. He later whispered that I looked like a really drunk hooker. I would usually take offense to that kind of talk, but he did have a point.
And I wore my new look for the rest of the day.
Only I didn't go outside.
If you see me sporting this hot new look next summer at the Haven Conference, I'll be sure to pass along my new beauty tips. In fact, I may just see if the Haven girls will let me run my own DIY Beauty workshop.
I bet you'd all sign up for it. Right?
I think that rates as one of the best ways to spend your day! And if I saw you I would say you look bee yooo ti ful!....cause thats what you ALWAYS say to good mommas!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that brings back memories. My girls always liked to play beauty palor when they were little, and of course mom was always the client! That is hysterical!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good sport you are! I'm betting Natalie and Michaela Byrd are especially proud that you took photos and displayed their handiwork on your blog. Well done, Mom!!! You do look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best Mom EVER!!! LOL And to wear it the whole day too!! I love Fancy Nancy- we have a neighbor down the street who looks exactly like Ms. Devine -she has the same dog too!

ReplyDeleteToo funny! The blue eye shadow all over your face had me cracking up! I bet your girls had such a fun time:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post Amanda! What was with that blue eyeshadow on your forehead? lol My daughter, who's 5 1/2, loves to give me makeovers too. Although I have to admit they're much better than the one you got, haha. =) Sorry! It's soo funny how little girls just love all the girlyness. I'm always happy I have two girls and no boys. What would I do with a boy?
ReplyDeleteHave a great week! And thanks for the Monday morning chuckle. : )

Too funny! What a good mom you are. As the mom of a young girl I have also had my share of "spa" days with her. Thankfully as she is getting older her makeup application skills are slowly beginning to improve :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post!

Hahahahhaha oh. my. goodness. You are one brave momma! : ) I'm sure the girls had a ball doing that. And don't lie, you totally went to the grocery store with that face on, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, your descriptions had me giggling. That is so sweet that they wanted to do a makeover. And I love their spa snacks. So cute.
ReplyDeleteI did that with my mom once, many, many moons ago. However, as soon as I finished her "makeover" I ran off to play with a friend. Mom completely forgot about said "makeover" until the UPS guy showed up. She said he looked at her like she was a crazed serial killer :) It looks like you had lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteAw! You are such a good mommy letting them have such fun with you!!! I am still in shock that I bought my Haven ticket today!!! Scared and excited ha ha! :)
