Welcome back to my Season of Serenity (Now) at Home series. You can read all of the posts in the series by starting here. I like to experiment with a new recipe or two during the holidays, but it's nice to have a few standard fall-back dishes to rely on for family get-togethers. Today I'm going to share a simple and delicious recipe for Sausage Stuffing (or Sausage Dressing, as some like to call it).
Sausage Stuffing (Sausage Dressing)
from allrecipes.com
Ingredients:
-1 pound Sausage (Sage or Regular)
-1 large onion, diced (I used onion flakes because I always forget the onion!)
-3 stalks celery, diced
-1 (14 ounce) package cubed stuffing
-1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
-2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/3 cup melted butter
Instructions:
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble sausage.
2. Dice celery (and onion).
3. Add onion and celery.
4. Stir and cook over medium heat until sausage is brown.
5. In a 9 x 13 casserole dish, place cubed stuffing and add sausage mixture.
6. Sprinkle with poultry seasoning.
7. Pour broth over the mixture.
8. Add melted butter to the top.
9. Toss to combine.
10. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
This side is a family favorite, and would make a wonderful addition to the menu for your Christmas dinner or New Year's menu!

ReplyDeleteAmanda this sounds so yummy! I've never had any other stuffing/dressing besides cornbread dressing...can you tell I'm a southerner:) I bet adding the sausage makes this so good! I'm a little behind on blogging because I've been busy with the boys' school stuff so you may see a few comments from me tonight!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so yummy, Amanda!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so delicious! I could make a meal out of just this.
ReplyDeleteOoh, that looks really yummy! I've never heard of that before. Being from the south we always had dressing instead of stuffing. I may have been missing out!
