One very positive thing I noted in the new catalog and also in the showroom was that the IKEA designers not only offer ideas on ways to "hack" their pieces, but there also seemed to be more accessorizing than usual. I noticed more of the smaller, inexpensive "extras" from the marketplace scattered about the showroom. I liked it!
Lots of layering--very nice:
I also appreciate that IKEA seems to realize that many families use their spaces in a multi-functional way. They take that into account when they put showrooms together.
The designers do a great job of separating this dining room from a family room with a pretty sofa table:
Love how a tiny table with two existing chairs gets a boost with a red bench and some cushions on the wall that serve as backrests:
These industrial-style kitchen island/carts? I die! The butcher block actually comes off the one on the left!
Speaking of carts, they didn't have one in aqua, but I did find the new kitchen cart, and it is just as cute in person! It's powder coated...wonder how this piece would do outside??
Some girls I know amused themselves under this loft bed:
As for the marketplace, I saw quite a few fun new things there too!
We came home with some bins for the new/old IKEA Thrifted Expedit I scored for $50. I only bought 5 this time, but I plan on going back for more another day.
Which room or product was your favorite?

Oh how I wish we had an IKEA in St. Louis! I love the blue and white bedroom outfit!
ReplyDeleteIKEA is one of those places that when i drive by it has a magnetic force that makes my car drive there. I loved the bedroom with the white furniture, chandelier, and silver framed photos above the bed. Looked so cozy and feminine.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like they've added a much more vintage/thrifted look. I like it! I really wish a trip to Ikea didn't require at least an overnight stay 6 hours away for me!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, we were just at one a couple weeks ago and I didn't see any of that cute stuff! We were flying through though -- and I still was able to stuff my arms full. ;)
ReplyDeleteNext time, we should meet up there. That is my IKEA as well. I get so many ideas when I walk through IKEA. They definitely show you idea of how to organize and use a space more than one way. LOVE IT! When we were there about a month ago, I got that cute glass mug you have a picture of in pink. One for each of my girls.
ReplyDeleteOh you are making me drool! I love Ikea and I'm so excited to spend my husbands bonus in one of Chicago's Ikeas on Labor day weekend! The industrial kitchen carts are sooooo neat!
ReplyDeleteHilarious....we both posted ikea today! i love your shots, it's fun to see how the different stores stage the rooms!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Thanks for posting these. I have not had a chance to get to my local Ikea. There is some drool-worthy stuff! Also, your girls are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love all the new products in the new catalogue! I wish they hadn't teased me with the beautiful chair on the cover of it.
ReplyDeleteTime to head up to my Ikea! What darling new things. Think I can talk my husband into letting me make some purchases BEFORE we move? ;) Thanks for sharing the new line with us Amanda!
ReplyDeleteHeather
I have the blue leaf curtains in my breakfast room. Love them! I am so excited to make a trip to Ikea soon! I am liking their new bedding.
ReplyDeleteOMG, there's so much to love! I am wrting a post on the latest IKEA stuff, there are so many wonderful things there right now, but I am lovin' all their chairs!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Amanda! You posting those kitchen carts gave me an idea!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your IKEA trip for those of us who don't have one nearby. My favorite room is the pink and gray living room that has a vintage look.
ReplyDeleteMan... I wish there was an Ikea somewhere within 100 miles of me.. I would SO go!
ReplyDeleteOh IKEA, I miss you when you are a million miles away. Or at least you might as well be since I can't just get in the car and drive to you easily.
ReplyDeleteSo much of this seems a lot more traditional/cottage-y than other stuff I've seen from them! I never would have guessed that first picture was IKEA. I like it.
Those girls you know look like they're having fun. ;)
Great shots. I'm especially loving the finite bedroom with the buffalo check pilows. An I actually bougt the grey cart in the spring. It's really nice. It originally lived in the nursery for changing table stuff. Now it lives in the bathroom. Super versatile.
ReplyDeleteOh Ikea... The Woodbridge Ikea is the closest one to me and it's still 2 hours away! I guess it's a good thing, but at the same time I wish it was closer! I need to go back since the new catalog is out now!
