Thoughts on Love for Valentine's Day (Great Quotes)

Happy Valentine's Day, readers! I love that you take the time to stop by here to check out posts every day. In honor of today's holiday, I thought it would be fun to share some great quotes about love. I hope you have a special day...I'm spending today with my loved ones, and I'll be back tomorrow with the link party!

"Doubt that the stars are fire,/Doubt that the sun doth move,/Doubt truth to be a liar,/But never doubt I love." -Shakespeare, Hamlet

"No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how." -Rhett Butler (Clark Gable), Gone with the Wind

"I love you the more I believe that you have liked me for my own sake and for nothing else." -John Keats

"Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you." -Baby (Jennifer Grey), Dirty Dancing

"'Tis better to have loved and lost/Than never to have loved at all." -Tennyson, In Memoriam A.H.H.

"As you wish." Wesley (Cary Elwes) to Buttercup (Robin Wright), The Princess Bride

"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you." -Jane Austen, Persuasion

"You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you." -Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you." -A. A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh

And the best one?

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." -John 3:16

What are your plans for Valentine's Day? (I found T's favorite giant Reese's peanut butter heart, so he should be a happy camper! He surprised me with roses and chocolates this morning. Woot!)

  1. Amen Amanda! the BEST one reminded me of the song we sang in 1995 World Youth day ... "for God so loved the world,He gave us His only son, Jesus Christ our saviour, His most precious one. He has sent us a message of LOVE, and asks those who hear, to bring the message to everyone in a voice loud and clear... " THANKS For sending the message and not forgetting the GREATEST LOVE THE WORLD has known this Valentines day! CHEERS!

  2. A WONDERFUL post, Amanda! You're right about the greatest love of all. And your other quotations are some of my favorites, too, particularly the Winnie the Pooh reference and the Tennyson.

I hold it true whate'er befall
I feel it when I sorrow most
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

And I love the fact that there's someone in blogland besides me who likes Tennyson! :)

a sea shell and gave it too my 4 year old daugghter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell
to her ear annd screamed. Ther was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She nevdr wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
