DIY Fire Starters (Winter Craft)

It's the season for coziness and comfort! I invited one of my oldest blogging friends, Paula from Sweet Pea, back today to share a winter craft with everyone. This DIY Fire Starter is cute and handy! We don't have a fireplace (boo), but we do have an outdoor fire pit. How cute would these be as addition to a winter bonfire?

Hello, Serenity Now readers, I’m Paula from Sweet Pea. I’m a 7th grade teacher by day and in my free time enjoy both blogging and being active. I love to run, bike, play tennis, and go to the gym. When I’m not teaching or sweating, I blog about DIY, crafting, decorating, cooking, gardening, and travel.

I’m delighted to be Amanda’s guest today to share a fun winter craft, DIY Fire Starters. It’s winter, the season for wood stoves, fires in the fireplace, and staying indoors to keep warm. If you enjoy an evening by the fire, make starting your fire easy with DIY Fire Starters that are simple to make.

Supplies:
Candle Wax or Old Candles to Melt Double Boiler (I use mine only for melting candles.)
Cupcake Liners
Muffin Tin
Twine or Candle Wick
Pine Cones
Fire Starter Supplies
  Procedure:

1. Melt candle wax or old candles in a double boiler over low heat. Melting candles
 2. Cut the stems off the ends of pine cones so that they will stand. Pinecone Ends

3. Wrap twine or candle wick around the base of the pine cone. Twine Wrapped Pinecone

4. Line a muffin tin with cupcake wrappers and stand pine cones in each wrapper. Pinecones in muffin tin

5. Carefully pour melted wax into each cupcake liner. (Wax is easily removed from the pan by freezing the pan.) Pinecones with Wax

6. When the wax is hard, the fire starter is ready to use.

I love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to leave comments...just don't send me spam asking me to buy stuff off your website! I've got three kids and no money to purchase your magic weight-loss pill or bust enhancement, or whatever else you might be selling. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you! :)
